NYU Portal Help Center
Use this guide before you log in to NYU Langone Health MyChart, create an account, recover a username, use the NYU Langone Health app, share access with a caregiver, request records, download radiology images, pay a bill or start a video visit.
This page is focused on the patient portal workflow, not a generic hospital listing. It explains MyChart help desk hours, activation, text alerts, proxy access, medical records, billing routes, video visits, virtual urgent care, app safety, official links, a planner, scripts and common mistakes.
NYU Langone MyChart Task Finder
Most users do not need a long hospital profile. They need one practical portal action: log in, create an account, recover access, message a care team, request records, download images, share access, pay a bill or prepare for a video visit.

Login troubleshooting checklist
- Use the official MyChart URL from NYU Langone or the official app, not an ad result.
- Try account recovery before creating a duplicate account.
- Check whether email filters are blocking MyChart messages.
- Add MyChart.DoNotReply@NYULangone.org as a contact if emails are missing.
- Use a secure private device when reviewing records or paying a bill.
- Call 866-262-6458 if you cannot verify identity or regain access.
NYU Langone Health App: What It Can Do
The NYU Langone Health app connects to your MyChart account. It is not a separate random portal. Use it for mobile access to care tasks that otherwise require logging into MyChart on a browser.
Schedule, change, cancel or review appointments when available.
View test results, clinical notes, medications, health summary, immunizations and allergies.
Send non-urgent messages and receive care-team updates.
Manage bill payments, care for others, and share information with outside providers.
Medical Records Through NYU Langone MyChart
NYU Langone says patients can request, download and access medical records through MyChart. The MyChart route is usually fastest, but a release form is still available for patients who prefer email, mail or fax.
Log in to MyChart
Use your NYU Langone Health MyChart account or the official app.
Open Request/Share Records
Select the Menu button, then choose Request/Share Records.
Select Request Medical Record
Choose the date range or request all dates, then select the record detail level you need.
Agree and submit
Review the release language and send the request. NYU Langone says MyChart-requested records are usually available to view immediately.
| Record need | Best route | Prepare | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recent visit details | MyChart Request/Share Records | Date range and visit type. | Calling the Help Desk for clinical interpretation. |
| Records sent to another doctor | MyChart or release form | Doctor name, fax, address and appointment date. | Waiting until the day before a specialist appointment. |
| Non-MyChart form request | Authorization for Use and Disclosure of PHI | Signed form and correct delivery details. | Submitting an unsigned form. |
| Hospital records by mail/fax/email | Health Information Management | Photo ID copy, signed form and destination. | Using a third-party site when official forms are available. |
| Sensitive or missing results | Contact physician office | Test name, date and ordering clinician. | Assuming every result appears in MyChart automatically. |
Radiology Images and Reports: Do Not Confuse Them
A written radiology report is not the same as the image file. NYU Langone says patients can download radiology images through MyChart, and technical support for image-sharing difficulties uses the MyChart support route.
Written report
The radiologist’s written interpretation may appear in records or MyChart.
Image files
Specialists may need the actual X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound or other imaging files.
Technical help
For technical image-sharing problems, use 866-262-6458.
Proxy Access, Family Access and Child Records
Proxy access is one of the most important NYU Langone MyChart topics. Rules change based on age, consent and New York State privacy requirements.
| Access type | Official rule pattern | Practical next step | Important caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Child age 11 or younger | Parent or guardian may request proxy access. | Menu → Sharing → Share My Record → Friends and Family Access → Request Access to My Child’s Account. | Processing and approval time can vary. |
| Patient age 12 or older | Patient can grant shared access to a trusted person. | Patient logs in and sends an invitation from Friends and Family Access. | Shared access for ages 12-17 expires on the 18th birthday. |
| Caregiver not an NYU patient | Caregiver may need MyChart Help Desk to create an account. | Call 866-262-6458 for account setup help. | Do not share passwords instead of using proper access. |
| Accepting shared access | Recipient uses invitation email and patient date of birth. | Accept or decline the invite after logging in. | Invitation emails can be missed by spam filters. |
Billing, Pay as Guest and Who to Call
NYU Langone bills can involve hospital billing, physician services, emergency care billing, insurance balances, guest payment and MyChart billing messages. Choose the route based on what appears on the statement.

Official contact page lists hospital billing at 800-237-6977.
Physician / ER billing
Physician services billing or emergency care billing is listed at 877-648-2964.
MyChart billing messages
The MyChart Help Desk page says billing questions can be sent through Billing Inquiries inside MyChart.
Before paying a large NYU Langone bill, check these
- Is it a hospital bill, physician bill, emergency-care bill, lab bill, imaging bill, anesthesia bill or insurer Explanation of Benefits?
- Has insurance fully processed the claim?
- Does the bill match your guarantor/account number and service date?
- Can you ask for an itemized statement or billing explanation?
- Are you paying through official MyChart or official NYU Langone billing contacts?
- Do not use suspicious text links, copied payment pages or third-party bill “helpers.”
Video Doctor Visits and Virtual Urgent Care
NYU Langone says many providers offer video visits, and video visits happen through your MyChart account. You can schedule online, through MyChart when available, or by calling the doctor’s office. Virtual Urgent Care is for many non-emergency same-day concerns.
Video visits
Use MyChart or the NYU Langone Health app. You can join up to 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment time.
State licensing
NYU Langone notes video visit rules vary by state, and the provider must be licensed where you are during the visit.
Not for emergencies
Use 911 or emergency care for severe or life-threatening symptoms.
NYU Langone Texts, Emails and Communication Preferences
NYU Langone uses text messages and emails for appointment scheduling, test results, billing and other care updates. If messages stop arriving, check preferences before assuming the portal is broken.
Text opt-in
NYU Langone says patients can text START to 96303 and 69854 to opt into texts.
Preferences
Use MyChart Settings → Communication Preferences to review email, text and notification choices.
Email filter fix
Add MyChart.DoNotReply@NYULangone.org as a contact if portal emails are being filtered.
Find a Doctor, Appointments and Clinical Questions
MyChart technical support is not the right place to change an appointment or ask for medical advice. For doctor search and appointment questions, use NYU Langone’s official doctor search or physician referral line.
NYU Langone’s doctor search and physician referral route is 646-929-7800 or 646-929-7875, depending on the official page you are using.
Contact the physician office if a diagnosis, medication, result, allergy, problem list or clinical note needs review.
Use MyChart appointment tools when available, or call the doctor’s office directly during business hours.

Most MyChart tasks can be handled online without visiting a campus.
